I recently dreamt of this-
I was talking to Amitabh Bachchan at my dining table.I don’t remember how we got to this setting. But most of my dreams are very logical; I can rest assured it was another self-explanatory dream, though almost impossible in our universe.
While we were talking, someone else sitting on the table brought up how beneficial it was to sleep early and rise earlier. To which the actor promptly replied that he tries to sleep early and advises others to do so.
But I said this-
Aap to raat mein par post karte hain facebook par..
and mind you he being a respectable figure even in my dreams, I took caution in the way I said this. Also, I had made myself pretty sure that I was correct with my facts before I spoke (like you prepare yourself when going to tell a teacher her fault, some spelling mistake).
And then imagine my horror when he gave an unprecedented look, took 3 seconds and then said in a tone not very typical of him when he talks to people like us(thanks KBC, now we know)-
Nahi…wo toh kuchh log hain wo karte hain(referring to perhaps managers of his, and suggesting that he doesn’t use facebook himself).
Now this was what I actually expected -
Haha, haan arre hum logon ke liye toh raat 2-3 baje hi hoti hai, kya karein itne vyast rhte hai..sth sth..
So how do dreams work?
I have a general view that dreams are those stories you see which are in anyway connected to your thought processes, your daily life.I mean rarely do you have a dream which can’t be traced to having some connection to you.And I have had these conversation dreams before.
Once I had a talk with Lord Vishnu on some topics I was interested in (about Dhoni or sth). But the discussion was like scripted.I asked questions which I knew, with which I was tormenting my mind with during those days. And he answered with answers I knew he would. Here it was like being Vishnu myself.I was the asker and the answerer as well. Those answers were given a mask of Vishnu, while being totally my own!
After this godly dream(some months back) had I started thinking.. are those dreams possible in which I get answers I don’t know(I now call them
“double-consciousness dreams”)? Can I have Vishnu answering me differently, by his own conscience and not mine? Can I get startled when I hear his answers? Now, imagine my surprise after that “Amitabh” dream then.
Mr. Bachchan not only gave a look I had never seen on him, he answered in a tone I didn’t expect from him and he answered after 3 seconds!!This when I knew what he was saying was most probably factually wrong. Dreams are like simulations, what say? They are like programs (I’ve a knack of comparing everything to programs). And you are the programmer of your dreams. So when you see your program running unexpectedly, taking a 3 second gap (sleep(3000);), you search for errors. But I didn’t, I was happy to know that these errors exist.
I can go to the scientific reasons and all for this but I won’t.Science needs philosophy to survive, and in my understanding it has never needed philosophy more than today.Though I would like it if you research this and tell me any good findings!Wonder one day we get to know the answer to some life questions like this.
